All we need is seventeen
Republicans who were at the scene
To vote to convict and not come back
And protect us all from another attack
They can’t say that they never knew
We all heard and saw it too
The radicals they stormed the house
And we know where they got the cue
There were those with raging faces
Desecrating sacred places
They were told to leave their homes
From wicked emails on their phones
Who wrote to say “Come walk with me”
And murmured clear obscenities
It was all as it seemed
Just seventeen
Remember those who win the game
Lose the votes they sought to gain
In debentures of quality
And dubious integrity
Their small town eyes will gape at you
In dull surprise when payment due
Exceeds accounts received
Just seventeen
Don’t play the game and learn to care
Don’t cheat us now said don’t you dare
Inventing reasons not to choose
To commit the man who has to lose
We’re looking for just seventeen
To convict the man
Who killed our dream
For republicans with clear intent
Who can stand up to
the president
(Former president)
All we need is seventeen
Just seventeen
